Original Crazy Girls Celebrate Arrival of Statue at Circa Las Vegas

Upon the arrival of the “Crazy Girls” statue at its new location, Circa Las Vegas, on Wednesday, eight original cast members from the enduring topless revue accompanied it. At least three were included among those whose back profiles were captured in the bronze relief. 

“It’s so awesome to be a part of history,” Angela Sampras-Stabile, the third Crazy Girl from the left in the statue, told the Las Vegas Sun after she emerged from a stretch limo pulling her bronze cast on a flatbed trailer.

The statue was accompanied by a police motorcade along Las Vegas Boulevard from Planet Hollywood, where it had been kept in storage since the show's closure in 2021.

“This statue really symbolizes everything that I came to love Las Vegas (for),” Circa owner Derek Stevens told the Sun. “This symbolized the glitz and the glamor, and the sexiness, and the entertainment and the fun that Las Vegas could be.”

Stevens possessed a share in the Riviera, where “Crazy Girls” premiered in 1987. The sculpture — created by artist Michael Conine from molds made of the dancers' bodies — was placed in front of the Rat Pack-era casino resort to celebrate the show's 10th anniversary. 

Soon, it turned into a famed Las Vegas sight to touch for good fortune, competing with the golden breasts hanging from Cleopatra’s Barge's figurehead and the left hand of Augustus Caesar’s statue at the Caesars Palace valet entrance. 

That's the reason its rear is so glossy. 

When the Riv shut down permanently in 2015, ending a 60-year run, Planet Hollywood rescued the show and the statue from the fate that awaited the Rat Pack-era site. However, the relief was short-lived, lasting only six years, until Caesars Entertainment, owner of Planet Hollywood, chose to shut down “Crazy Girls” and store the statue away. 

The statue will arrive at the lobby of Circa’s Legacy Club rooftop lounge, where a ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 5 pm on Friday.
