The second version of The Phantom has been released on casino floors by Aristocrat Gaming, the second-largest slot producer in the world behind IGT. Its new slot machine, which is based on the first masked superhero in popular culture, is currently available at six sites in Las Vegas: the Palms and Rampart off-Strip, El Cortez and Circa downtown, and Resorts World and The Venetian on the Strip.
The game is based on Aristocrat's innovative Baron Upright cabinet and has bonus meters, triggers from the original 1936 comic strip, immersive graphics and sound, and progressive jackpots starting at $10,000.
“We are thrilled to once again introduce The Phantom to casino players with a game packed with excitement and adventure, on the latest hardware,” said Kurt Gissane, Aristocrat’s Chief Revenue Officer, in a press release. “The Phantom has a legion of fans across the globe, and we’re excited for them to experience this new iteration.”
The First Phantom Slot Threatened
After making its debut in Australia in 2009, this is the second Phantom spot for the Australian firm. Although it arrived in the US, the original version was not a huge success.
The business, which is now well-known for blockbuster hits like Buffalo, Lightning Link, and Dragon Link, is placing a large bet that the greatly greater saturation of the US market would contribute to the brand's wider appeal.
The Phantom's seemingly unending presence is his superpower. He is more than one man, also known as The Ghost Who Walks. He is the twenty-first in a series of crimefighters that began in 1536, when the first took a pledge to combat evil following the pirate murder of his father.
Kit Walker, the Phantom of today, continues the tradition of his buried Skull Cave in the made-up African nation of Bangalla.
The character, which is owned by King Features Syndicate, has appeared in numerous comic books and graphic novels, five television series, and two movies: the original in 1943 and the beloved 1996 remake starring Billy Zane. The character has also been licensed to comic book giants DC and Marvel.
The Phantom's comeback extends beyond slot machines. The first original Phantom video game was released earlier this year by Art of Play Interactive, and Mad Cave Studios is launching a new comic series in September.
More installations of The Phantom slot machine are planned in Southern Nevada, according to aristocrat authorities.
